Everything I need to know about business…
…I learned from my Fraternity.
Okay. Maybe everything is an exaggeration, but it certainly laid a solid foundation.
Recruitment… equates to being the hiring manager.
I love when people ask how I remember names. I always want to tell them that the names are the easy part! 1200 PNMs coming through the house in one day? Yes, you get pretty good with the names and faces.
RFM… translates to forecasting and statistical analysis.
I didn’t have a good grasp on this in college, but now it all makes sense. Being able to put metrics around the art of making friends? Priceless. Numbers and data don’t lie. Sometimes they make you face unpleasant realities, but you will always be better for it.
Values based leadership… is values based leadership no matter how you slice it.
I sometimes wonder how other leaders within my business organization embrace values based leadership without the context that my Greek organization has given to me on the subject. It’s not enough to keep a list on your desk or a poster on the wall; you’ve got to put them into action. I’ll be the first to admit that my team probably can’t rattle off a complete list, but ask them a question. I guarantee that you will hear every value we have as a company layered in their experiences.
Chapter management… becomes employee management.
90% of my staff is female. Do I really have to say any more? Oh! Other than, “THANK YOU” to my Fraternity!
